Wheeling Food Pantry Fundraiser

April 18, 2016

Topic: Student Activities

Several students in Mrs. Anaya’s 3rd grade class wanted to help out the community so they decided to organize a Penny Drive with Mrs. Anaya’s help. They made posters and hung them around the school. Each morning they made announcements with Mr. Brusso over the intercom to get the word out. For five days the kids took turns going into all the classrooms with a container collecting pennies and any other spare change. By the end of the week they collected a total of $485.77.

On Thursday, April 14, Julie Villarreal  from the Wheeling Township Food Pantry came to Frost and shared a presentation about the Food Pantry with Mrs. Anaya’s class. She explained how the pantry works, who works there, how community members can access the food, etc. She also answered any questions the students had.  At the end of her presentations the students in Mrs. Anaya’s class presented her with a check for $485.77.
