Topic: Meet our Alumni

My name is Jack Greenspan and I’ll be spending the summer working with District 21 as a public relations Intern. I just completed my freshman year at Northwestern University in Evanston, where I am studying journalism and plan to declare a secondary study in marketing communications. Although I’m just beginning my job here, I’m no stranger to this fantastic school district.

Riley Elementary School was where my D21 journey began. During my six years as a Riley Ram, not only did find my love for music, English, and social studies, but many of the people I sat next to in my first- and second-grade classrooms are the same people I call my closest friends today. I connected with amazing teachers who inspired me to try new things, and who I always love to run into at grocery stores or local restaurants! Then, I attended Jack London Middle School, where I got involved with theater productions and became even more interested in communications. At London, I met even more friends and teachers who made me the person I am today. I’ll always remember how much fun I had on the eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.

After closing out my time as a D21 student, I attended Buffalo Grove High School. As a Bison, I developed a strong passion for media and journalism, theater, marketing, and student leadership.

A fun fact about me is that both of my parents are teachers! My dad is a high school biology teacher and my mom is a middle school ELL teacher here at District 21.

Looking to the future, I want to become a multimedia journalist so I can report on culture, current events, and entertainment. I’m also interested in PR and creative advertising — it would be a dream to write and direct a Super Bowl commercial one day.

I am beyond excited to spend the summer with District 21, where I can gain even more skills in public relations and help the district communicate its mission to the public. Many of my best childhood memories took place in District 21 schools, and it’s great to be back where everything started!
